New Purex Complete Crystals Softener

Purex Complete Crystals Softener is 92% natural and works differently than oil based softener's because of it's unique crystal form.  Oil based softener's coat fabrics with oily residue.  Purex Complete Crystals Softener infuses fabric fibers with long-lasting fragrance.

No more waiting for the rinse cycle to add softener... Purex Complete Crystals Softener is added at the beginning of every wash cycle at the same time you add laundry detergent.  As the crystals dissolve your fabrics are infused with freshness.  The Crystals are safe for both Standard AND High Efficiency (HE) Washers!

Purex Complete Crystals Softener is safer for all laundry and better for fabrics because it willnot harm, wear down or discolor your fabrics like oil-based softeners.  Crystals will:
  • Preserve the flame retardent benefits of your children's clothes
  • Retain your athletic wear's wicking ability whch draws sweat away from your body
  • Maintain your towels' built-in ability to absorb water
  • Keep your white clothing from yellowing and graying vs. using traditional softeners

Purex Complete Crystals Softener will be available in food, drug and mass retailers nationwide.  The price of the Crystals range from $3.99 to $5.99 and is available in three fragrances:
  • Fresh Spring Waters
  • Lavender Blossom
  • Tropical Splash
I was able to find Purex Complete Crystals Softener at Tops for $5.29.

The first time I used the Crystals I used them in a load of my husband's laundry.  Ron's a logger so there isn't a day that goes by that he's not covered in dirt, gunk and grease and smelling like diesel fuel.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that the odor of diesel fuel was significantly less noticeable.  Typically when I open the washer after doing a load of the man's clothes I'm blown away by the odor of diesel fuel.

I am excited about the Purex Complete Crystals Softenener because I can add them to the washer at the same time I add laundry detergent.  I'm a mom and a wife with a million things going on just like every other mom and wife.  I ALWAYS missed the rinse cycle.  A bottle of liquid fabric softener collected more dust on the than anything... eventually it would separate and get all gunky looking.

Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce

Just recently, I tried Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce for the first time.  For me and my family, the single most important component in a sauce is sweetness. Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce has that! My first taste was directly out of the bottle… no, no, no… I didn’t drink it. I put a wee bit on my finger and then onto the tip of my tongue… A slight vinegary flavor was followed by sweetness and then an almost unnoticeable hint of heat hit the back of my tongue… No single flavor stood out more strongly than any of the others… instead, each flavor component complimented the others quite nicely.

We tried Country Bob’s on Burgers. Here’s the recipe:

1 Pound Ground Beef
2 Tablespoons Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce + 4 Teaspoons
2 Tablespoons Sweet Onions, minced
4 Slices of American Cheese
8 Onion Rings
4 Onion Rolls; Split

Mix; Ground Beef, 2 Tablespoons Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce and Sweet Onions in a medium sized bowl. Divide mixture into 4 patties. In a skillet (or on a grill) ~ fry patties 4-5 minutes on each side over medium high heat.

During the last minute of frying (or grilling) top each burger with 1 Teaspoon of Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce, a slice of American Cheese & 2 onion rings. Serve on an onion roll.

Yes, Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce is definitely… ALL PURPOSE! As I write this post I am imagining the sauce on a rack of ribs… and I’m frothing.

While I do receive complimentary products from Country Bob's, my opinions are my own.

Coffee-Mate Party

I was so excited when I opened my email to find that I was selected to be a Coffee-Mate party host!  I had a hard time waiting for Free Flavor Friday ~ February 4th (the day of the party) to arrive!  I had some great idea's and couldn't wait to share them with my guests.  (insert HUGE grin)

We made cookies and used Coffee-Mate Coffee Creamer in the recipe.  Excuse me for a moment while I thank my friend Laura for that great idea...  Thank You BIG Laura! (wink)... We decorated the cookies with the Coffee-Mate logo... the icing we used was a French Vanilla Coffee-Mate icing.  The cookies were cute but we defanitely need some practice in the decorating area... or a stencil... Either way, they were yummy and didn't last long!

We played Coffee-Mate Bingo...  Once I had all the images downloaded onto my computer and adjusted to the correct size I added them to a excel spreadsheet.  I rearranged the pictures on the spreadsheet before each print.  The bingo winners received a coupon for free Coffee-Mate!  Did you know...?  There are over 25 flavors of Coffee-Mate?

We even made a Coffee-Mate commercial... or rather, Aunt Wendy made a Coffee-Mate commercial... We're dorks...

The kids all enjoyed adding Coffee-Mate Creamer to their hot chocolate and the adults enjoyed Coffee-Mate Creamer in their coffee after going outside to build Mr. Coffee-Mate, the snowman.  We painted Mr. Coffee-Mate blue (to look like a French Vanilla Coffee Creamer container) with a spray gun filled with blue colored water!  We topped him off with a red beanie and tattoed his middle with a red heart around his name.  We used a can of spray paint for Mr. Coffee-Mate's tattoo.

Thank you Coffee-Mate for the inspiration & a day to remember!

I'm not sure what's happening but I'm having trouble uploading pictures & video's... I'm so disappointed I would have loved to share them with you all...

Big Appliance Purchase ~ LG Refrigerator

We've known for a few months now that our ‘frig was on its way out… But, just like every other big purchase we make we've been putting it off. The time came when the hubby poured cottage cheese instead of milk in his coffee Thursday morning… (Ewe…) Either we needed to start using the snow to keep our perishable's cold or go buy a new refrigerator. I'm thrifty and sometimes just down-right cheap but I'm not quite ready to go Amish just yet.

After discussing our options and deciding that we didn't want a used refrigerator we set our budget. We took ONLY our budgeted amount of cash with us and left the checkbook and check card at home.

Did you know…?
Ice Makers are an add on and cost around $50 more (varies per model)
No Spill Shelves are an add on and cost around $100 more (varies per model)

First stop… Bessecker & Coss…
We found nothing at Bessecker & Coss that really jumped out at us... but took note of the lowest priced refrigerator at $750.

On to K-Mart (Sears) we went...
While K-Mart (Sears) had a very budget friendly refrigerator at $390.00 the capacity was less than desirable.

Next up… the Home Depot.
We found a refrigerator that we were interested in ~ a PERFECT FIT for the space we were filling. The capacity was larger than I hoped for (a plus!!) and it had adjustable door shelves... I asked the salesman to check their stock for that model without an ice maker. They didn't have one... I was NOT paying for an icemaker. We told him that we WOULD be buying a refrigerator from someone today... whether it was Home Depot or another store we were taking home a new refrigerator but I WAS NOT PAYING FOR AN ICEMAKER. We waited while the salesman called the manager. The manager was not willing to give us $50 off the refrigerator… so, we left.

After we were in the truck I looked at Ron and said I really want that refrigerator but there isn’t any sense in paying for an ice maker that we’ll never use… I’m calling the manager myself. So, I did and this is what I said…

Hi, my husband and I were just there looking at refrigerator’s… we found one that’s perfect and I would love to take it home BUT, it has an ice maker and I can’t see paying for an ice maker that we’re never going to use. You don’t have the same model in stock that comes without an ice maker… We are buying a refrigerator today, from someone… and right now… we’re headed back to K-Mart BUT I wanted to talk to you personally and be sure that you understood why we were asking for an additional $50 off.

The manager asked me what the original price was… what the sale price was and what we were willing to pay (before tax)… Then she said come back and we’ll have it waiting for you at the service desk.  Hot Diggity Dog... and we were on our way... back to Home Depot.

I’ve done my research and have found that the price we paid was the absolute lowest price we could have paid (and then even lower yet) for our particular model… YIPPEE!

LG Model Number LBC22520SW (With an Ice Maker)

• The adjustable door shelves are awesome! I’ve got the “Design a Door Bins” situated perfectly to suit our needs. PLUS they’re large enough to hold gallon jugs! I could go on and on about the space in the door shelves… Our old refrigerator didn’t have nearly enough door shelf space to hold all our condiments but this one has plenty of room and then some!

• The capacity is 22.4 Cubic Feet ~ HUGE in comparison to our beat up broken down old refrigerator.

• I like that the freezer is on the bottom. Simply because everything in the refrigerator is at eye level.

• The storage rack in the freezer slides out for easy access.

• The refrigerator beeps if the door is ajar… if something prevents the door from shutting all the way… the alarm will let you know!

• Energy Star Qualified ~ Estimated yearly operating cost = $50… I can’t wait to see the difference in my electric bill! Our old refrigerator never stopped running… RG&E just may have to pay me!

• Our old ‘frig… you could hear humming from another room… this ‘frig… you have to get right up next to it just to “double check”… hee hee ~ I bet it has something to do with the LoDecibel Quiet Operation feature.

• The controls to adjust the temperature are electronic… that’s a change for us… compared to the old “dial” temperature adjusters… we now have a refrigerator that’s in the electronic age! WOO HOO!

I am 110% satisfied with our new LG Refrigerator… and Ron's favorite thing about it... It keeps the milk cold... Life's Good!
