Triple Threat Peanut Butter Cookies

Makes 38 Cookies
Inspiration: Real Mom Kitchen Blog

1 ½ Sticks Imperial 53% Vegetable Oil Spread, Softened
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Cup Peanut Butter
2 Large Eggs
2 Teaspoons Vanilla
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
½ Teaspoon Salt
2 ½ Cups Flour
25 mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Cut into 4 Pieces
75 mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Cut into 4 pieces
Optional: Salt to Taste
Sugar

1.     Pre-Heat Oven to 350˚
2.    Use a wooden spoon to mix the Butter, Sugar, Brown Sugar and Vanilla.
3.    Stir in Eggs one at a time.
4.    Sift together Baking Soda, Salt & Flour.
5.    Incorporate Flour Mixture into Sugar Mixture.
6.    Add 25 of the quartered mini Reese’s and stir to combine.
7.    Optional: Lightly sprinkle the 75 mini Reese’s with salt.
8.    Scoop out 2 Tablespoons of Dough and Roll into a ball.  Roll each ball in sugar.  Use a glass to slightly flatten the balls.
9.    Bake on 350˚ for 12 Minutes.
10.  Remove cookies from oven and add 7-8 of the quartered mini Reese’s.  Return the cookies to the oven and bake an additional 5-7 minutes.   Let the cookies slightly cool on the baking sheet before moving to a wire rack.

This recipe was inspired by the Real Mom Kitchen’s recipe for Over the Top Reese’s Peanut Butter Cookies… I made a couple of slight changes and made it my own… I just couldn’t resist adding Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to the dough instead of Chocolate Chips…  My girlfriend Laura helped me decide on the name Triple Threat Peanut Butter Cookies.  It seemed to fit because of the Peanut Butter IN the dough, the Peanut Butter in the mini Reese’s that went INTO the dough and the mini Reese’s the top the cookies!

I hope you’ll enjoy them JUST AS MUCH AS WE DO!

How I bought Pepsi, Mountain Dew & Dr. Pepper 12-Packs for $1.06 each...

I spied a SMOKING Deal at the Dollar General that I couldn't resist and thanks to my good sense namely "logic" and "reasoning" I can say that I left the DG on my own free will... free of handcuffs and strangulation charges that is.

I had to practice my deep breathing exercises to avoid choking the cashier AND manager at the Shinglehouse Dollar General... and this experience was a great reminder of why I appreciate our Bolivar Dollar General Cashiers and Managers... THEY'RE NOT COUPON ILLITERATE!  BUT, before I continue to rant and rave about literacy I'll share the deal...

Bought (5) Mountain Dew & (1) Pepsi 12-Packs 3/$10 = $20

Bought (3) Dr. Pepper 12-Packs 1/$3.50 = $10.50

Used (3) $2/3 Pepsi 12-Pack Coupons = ($6)

Out of Pocket $19.50 + Tax

The Mail in Rebate does NOT require a beer purchase in ALL states... it just so happens that I'm in one of those states that a beer purchase is not required!  SCORE!

Submitted for $10 Mail in Rebate = ($10)

Final Cost 9/$9.50 or $1.06 each + Tax or $0.09 PER CAN

The Dollar General registers were only allowing the coupons to ring up at $1.82 instead of the face value of the coupons.  The face value of the coupons were $2 off 3 12-packs.... In the coupon world we all know that $0.18 is $0.18 and that $.018 could be used to pay for a whole grocery cart full of food... and $0.18 times 3 (I was using 3 coupons) is $0.54 that could be used to pay for 3 grocery carts full of food, in the coupon world that is...

The cashier "didn't know what to do" and "had to call the manager" because I was unwilling to accept  a value of $1.82 PER coupon.. The face value of the coupon was for $2 off 3 12-packs and  I wanted the face value those coupons... I was in compliance with the requirements of the coupons and there was no reason that I should have had to accept anything less than the FACE VALUE...

The store manager came to the register and suggested that the coupons were coming up as $1.82 because the "store coupon" (the Dollar General $5 off a $30 purchase coupon) was scanned first and that coupon deducts a certain amount from each item verses deducting the entire $5 at the end... according to the manager each item scanned had gone below $2... hmmm... last time I knew 9 (12 packs) times $2 equaled $18 and my total AFTER all coupons should have been $19.50... all my coupons hadn't even been scanned at that point... and even if they HAD been... where I come from 9 divided into $19.50 is $2.16666666... humor me PLEASE... humor me.

Sigh...

5 minutes later....

Sigh...

10 minutes later...

Sigh...

15 minutes later...

I rolled with the manager's explanation and offered a solution... My solution... take $1.82 off the 1st 12-pack and  $0.18 off the second and so on... The manager and cashier both INSISTED that "it" wouldn't work... I explained again that I was in compliance with the coupons and that I expected to receive the face value of the coupons...

20 minutes later...

The manager threw her hands in the air, turned to walk away exclaiming to the cashier to "do whatever"...

As if the managers attitude weren't enough... now, it was the cashier's turn... she complained that she was already on the verge of losing her job and that my transaction would make her drawer off and it would be the final straw... she went on further to say "oh well, must be this is the month to lose my job." ...
?!?!?!?! Whhhhhat?!?!?!?

The kind lady behind me in line was heaven sent... she understood completely what was going on and I was actually kind of thankful for her snide remark that it didn't take much more than a 6th grade education to understand that the coupon I was presenting was for $2 off 3 12-packs and not $2 off 1 12-pack...  That same lady was reading my mind when she said YOUR MANAGER SHOULD HAVE NEVER WALKED AWAY from this transaction, she SHOULD HAVE stood behind the register and seen the transaction through to completion.  It was nice to have another customer "on my side" for once instead of another customer saying Oh.My.Gawd I'm going to another line!

If you were in a similar situation would you accept an adjustment on the coupon or would you insist on being given full coupon value?
